Anyway, Neon Genesis. An interesting, if not confusing series that lasted for 26 episodes with 2 movies. The story revolves around mankind's battle against the Angels, mysterious aliens that first appeared 15 years ago. After the second impact, in which a huge meteor crashed into the earth, killing much of the Earth's population, humans began to prepare for the arrival of the angels, and built the Evangelions, giant robots designed to combat the Angels. However, for some reason, the Eva's can only be piloted by 14 year old children, born in the midst of the second impact. The central charchter is Shinji Ikari a reluctant child pilot, and as well as depicting mankinds battle for the earth, Evangelion explores how he copes with his feelings towards his father and his own feelings of self hatred in this strange new environment.

Phew. It may not sound great, but Evangelion is a great show that doesn't just have to be taken at face value; there are many mysteries ravelled within the plot, some more complicated than others, and some that are never answered. The underlying themes are said to be so complex that they have been related to the psychological works of Sigmund Freud and several religious beliefs. Overall, Evangelion is very interesting, especially if you take the time to explore the plot a bit more but can seem boring at times if you don't. Reccomended to all otakus.
You know who you are.
