This is a bit of an odd-ball if you ask me.
Although I am the biggest fan of NGE this one really pissed me off.
What is sold as a two disc end of series movie is actually a recap of events in the series, which is boring if you've seen it all before
It is essential however if you are a fan of the series for two main reasons. The first is that a true fan could never shame themselves by having this missing from their collection. (I spent £20 on this crap.)
The other reason to buy this is the director's commentary.
This is the only thing that pulls this DVD back from the realms of the DVD Dumping Ground. The commentaries are funny and informative, and never boring which tends to be a problem with these commentaries.
For those of you not farmiliar to commentaries I will explain what they are.
First you go into the options and chose to play the movie with commentary. The movie will then start as usual except the directors voices are dubbed over the regular sound track as they discuss each scene as it plays.
Often this type of thing is boring and annoying but in this case it is highly interesting and informative, but only if you are interested in hidden meaning and references that Evangelion is full of.
One for hardcore fans only. (like me ^_^)
