Reviews - Ah! My Goddess: The Movie
Dr Placebo
MVM are an interesting bunch. The packaging of this show and the menu system make this show look very appealing, then you hear the music in the menu. This song seems more at home in the video game, "The Sims."
The story is about a boy who has three goddesses who protect him. While quite similar to the "Tenchi" franchise, this show manages to be aimed even more so at young children than Tenchi is. The action is quite fast paced, while never really reaching epic proportions, and the story line is adequate, but in all honesty, I felt like this was really one for the kids.
I think that kids should have anime too; turn the little brats into little otaku at an early age and all that. While some shows could easily be viewed by adults and children alike, this show is probably one for the lil' ones.
The animation had a fair bit of CGI, and although purists may not like this, it is done pretty well and keeps interest going and visuals interesting.
There are a couple of extras on the disc, namely "The adventures of Mini-Goddesses" which is a sketch-show featuring the Goddess Gals. There are also trailers for the show and a Photo gallery too.
If your kids keep trying to get at your anime collection, set them straight and give them this DVD. Little Brats.
