Episode 1: Asteroid Blues Bounty hunters Spike and Jet are in search of their next bounty-a man selling red eye, a powerful drug. Spike heads to a small asteroid colony, where he befriends a pregnant woman, who is later revealed to be the girlfriend of his target. Spike engages the man in battle, but he escapes. Armed enemies of the man appear, and the woman's 'womb' is shot, revealing several capsules of red eye. Along with her boyfriend, they escape in a ship and head off into space. Spike follows in pursuit. The man, who has taken some of the red eye himself, threatens his girlfriend, who shoots him. Spike catches one last glimpse of the woman before the police fire at her ship. |
Episode 2: Stray Dog Strut Spike finds out about Abdool Hakim, a notorious thief who has recently stolen a lab dog. He goes to Mars to find him. Meanwhile Hakim's briefcase containing the dog is stolen by some idiot. He goes to a pet shop to sell the dog, but it escapes followed by Hakim and the dog owners. Spike fights Hakim, and then takes the dog. Later, the dog owners try to lure the dog, but fail. Hakim manages to capture the dog, and escapes in a car. Spike chases him. The dog jumps on the steering wheel, causing the car to swerve violently. The dog flies out the window but is saved by Spike. Hakim's car swerves out of control and crashes in a police station. Spike takes the dog back to the Bebop, and Jet decides to keep it. |
Episode 3: Honky Tonk Women Faye Valentine walks into a bar. She is captured by armed men, and taken to a casino. She owes debt to the casino boss, who offers to let her off if she performs a special task... To obtain a valuable chip from a man at the casino... Jet and Spike are gambling at the casino. Spike joins a game where Faye is the dealer. Mistaking him for her target, she makes him lose until he has one chip left. Spike leaves the game, and bumps into the real guy. They both pick up each others chip. Faye tries to escape but Jet and Spike capture her, and lock her up on their ship. Spike and Jet are contacted by the casino boss, who tells them the chip contains a program that can break into any security system. They make a deal: the chip for 30 million. The casino tries to double cross Spike, but he manages to keep the chip. Faye appears, steals the money, kills the casino boss and escapes. Jet and Spike return to the casino for some more gambling. |
Episode 4: Gateway Shuffle Jet and Spike encounter eco-terrorists called the space warriors. Spike captures their leader, Twinkle Murdoch. .Faye finds a destroyed ship. A man gives her a vial, telling her to give it to the police. Jet and Spike find Faye, who has lost the 30m gambling. They find the vial. Jet contacts a friend in the police, who tells them that the space warriors will infect Ganymede with a DNA virus unless their leader is freed. Spike is forced to free Twinkle. However, the space warriors still release the virus into hyperspace, where the police cannot get to it. Spike and Faye attempt to stop it, but fail. The police decide to close the hyperspace gate, and they make it out just in time. The space warriors are infected by the virus. Faye joins Spike & Jet, much to the displeasure of Spike. |
Episode 5: Ballad of Fallen Angels A deal is signed between the Red dragon crime syndicate and another group. A white haired man appears, and kills everyone there... Spike and Jet are notified of a new bounty, for a man named Mao Yenrai. Jet is suspicious of the bounty, but Spike goes off anyway. Faye also hears about the bounty, and heads to the opera where he is supposed to be watching. She enters his box, and is held up by a man with a gun. Mao's dead body is there. The white haired man appears...Vicious. Spike visits an old friend, Anne and asks her about Mao. She tells him he's dead so Spike decides to attack Vicious. Jet and Spike are contacted by Faye, who tells them she is being held ransom by Vicious. Spike heads to the location - an abandoned church. After a fire fight, Faye is freed and Spike fights Vicious. Spike is thrown out the window, and knocked out. After dreams of his life, and a blond woman, he awakes on the bebop . |
Episode 6: Sympathy for the Devil Spike is searching for a man named Giraffe in some bar. A boy leaves with a man in a wheelchair, and Giraffe follows him. Spike catches up to him in time to see him falling out of a tower window. Spike saves him, and he gives him a pink ring with the warning not to be fooled, then passes away. Spike goes after him. He finds the boy with him. The boy reveals that he is far older than he looks, after he was affected by a hyperspace explosion and now incapable of death. He uses Zebra (the man in the wheelchair) as a decoy to escape. Jet and Spike scan Zebra's mind, and find out that the boy killed Giraffe, and that the ring Spike has is made from a substance that can remove his immortality. Jet makes a special bullet from the ring, and Spike heads out to confront the boy. He shoots him using the special bullet, and he begins to age rapidly, then dies. |
Episode 7: Heavy Metal Queen Spike meets a space trucker woman named VT after a bar brawl. Elsewhere, Faye searches for a bounty named Decker. She finds the wrong guy, and the real one escapes. He uses a powerful bomb to trash her ship and get away. Spike's ship has been wrecked by some thugs, so VT gives him a lift. He learns that VT is also chasing Decker. She asks for his help. In their modified ships, Faye and Spike aid VT as she follows Decker. He is delivering enhanced nitro, a highly explosive substance. They follow him into a mine, where his bombs cause a cave in. He dies, leaving the crew trapped inside. They use the nitro from Decker's ship to blow open an escape route. Spike reveals he knows VT's true identity, the wife of a famous bounty hunter. |
Episode 8: Waltz for Venus Spike meets Rocco, a young man who wants to learn how to fight. After a quick lesson, Rocco is chased off by some men, leaving Spike with his package. Spike learns that the boy is a wanted criminal and his package contains a rare stolen plant. The men who chased him are also wanted by the police. Spike goes to Rocco's house, where he meets his sister, Stella. She has a rare disease that can only be cured with Rocco's plant. Later, Spike meets up with Roco, and returns his plant. The other men appear, and a fight starts. Rocco is killed, breaking his plant's casing and causing it to die. Faye arrives, and beats off the others. Spike visits Stella and tells her what happened |
Episode 9: Jamming with Edward The crew search for 'Radical Edward' a hacker accused of using satellites to make carvings on Earth's surface. However, they are unaware that 'Edward' is actually a little girl. Ed contacts the satellite, and finds out it has an AI and was making the carvings itself. She contacts the Bebop, and tells them this. To claim the bounty, they must load a copy of it and give it to the police. Faye promises Ed can stay with them to convince her to help. However the police refuse to accept an AI. The crew are left with no bounty, and they are forced to recruit Ed, leaving Spike very annoyed(ha) |
Episode 10: Ganymede Elegy Jet heads to Ganymede, where he meets his ex-wife Alicia, who abandoned him years ago. Spike learns that Brent, her boyfriend is a wanted criminal wanted for killing a man Alicia borrowed some cash from. Spike decides to go after him, but Jet takes over. Brent and Alicia attempt to escape, but Jet catches them. She begs Jet to leave them alone. He is persuaded when she tells him why she left him - he was overprotecting. Brent is arrested, and Jet reconciles with Alicia, before returning to the Bebop |
Episode 11: Toys in the Attic Jet is bitten by a creature after opening an old fridge. He has a purple mark where the bite is. Spike gives him a remedy, but he gets worse and faints. Later, Faye is also bitten, and suffers the same fate. Spike attempts to look for the creature with Ed. Ein is bitten, and Spike tracks down the creature and kills it. However, more appear. He realises that the creatures were breeding in the old fridge Jet found. He prepares to jettison the fridge, but is bitten on the way. Ed finds the last creature, and eats it. Apparently, the lesson here is to not leave things in the fridge... |
Episode 12: Jupiter Jazz-Part 1 Faye has left the Bebop with all their money. Ed looks for her on her laptop, and finds someone with the codename Julia in Blue Crow, a city on Callisto where there are no women. Spike forgets about Faye and goes in search of Julia. Jet searches for Faye, who is also on Blue Crow. She meets Gren, a saxophone player in a bar. Elsewhere, Spike searches for Julia, but does not find her. He is attacked by men who think he's Vicious. He beats them up. Jet finds out about a bounty on Gren. Faye is also attacked and saved by Gren, who takes her to his home. While he takes a shower, Faye hears a call from Vicious. Meanwhile, Spike finds Vicious, and Lin, an old friend. Spike confronts him, but Lin protects him and shoots Spike... Faye goes to Gren's shower to capture him, but is shocked by what she sees. Gren has breasts... |
Episode 13: Jupiter Jazz-Part 2 Gren tells Faye that he was once Vicious' comrade in a war. After the war he was imprisoned when Vicious betrayed him. He went crazy, and was given drugs to calm him down. The side-effects were the breasts. After his revelation, Gren locks-up Faye. Elsewhere, Spike wakes up. The bullet was a tranquiliser. Jet finds Faye in Gren's house. Vicious prepares to meet Gren for a red-eye deal. Gren disguises himself as a woman. He kills Lin and reveals himself. Vicious escapes in his ship, and Gren follows. Spike appears in his ship and fights him. Gren is hit. Vicious' ship is also damaged, but he escapes. Gren tells Spike about Julia, and requests he send him into space to die. Spike returns to the Bebop, and is reunited with the crew. |
Episode 14: Bohemian Rhapsody Hyperspace gates are being attacked by small time crooks, each of them leaving chess pieces. The Bebop crew investigate. Ed discovers the chess pieces contain data for virtual chess. She plays a game. They realise the mastermind is an insider from the gate system. Jet finds out he is called Chessmaster Hex. Jet tells the crew that Hex was the man who invented the hyperspace gate. Ed is playing against him. He felt they were unsafe, so he was fired. The crew locate him on a small space colony. Hex is an old man. He set up the attacks 50 years ago, but forgot in his old age. His bounty is called off. Ed loses to Hex. |
Episode 15: My Funny Valentine Faye recounts her past. 3 years ago, she was revived from cryogenic storage with no memory of her life. She owed over 320 million to the hospital. She is taken care of by Whitney Haggis Masumoto. He tells her she was frozen after an accident, and was not able to survive using the current technology. He helps her to adapt to the future. One night, he is followed by the collection agency. He runs off and she never sees him again. In the present, Jet returns with a new bounty. It's Whitney! Faye releases him and they fly off in her ship. She asks him about her true identity, and he tells her he doesn't know. The doctor from the cryo clinic appears. He tells them the true reason for her storage was unknown - Whitney was lying. His ship explodes. Whitney is arrested, and the crew receive their cash. |
Episode 16: Black Dog Serenade Jet receives a call from his old partner. He asks him to help stop some prisoners who have taken over a prison ship. One of the prisoners is Udai, the man responsible for the loss of Jet's arm. He eventually agrees to go. He takes his ship, while his partner backs him up. Jet enters the prison ship, where he meets Udai. His partner arrives on the ship and kills everyone. Jet and Udai fight. Udai tells him it was his partner who shot his arm. His partner shoots Udai dead. He confesses he worked for a crime syndicate that wanted Jet killed. He tricks Jet into shooting him and dies. |
Episode 17: Mushroom Samba After the Bebop crashes, Ed and Ein go out to search for food. They go to a town where they find Domino, a man with a bag of mushrooms. Ed takes the mushrooms back to the Bebop. The crew eat them and begin to act very strangely. Ed finds out Domino is a wanted criminal, and tracks him down. He escapes and is chased by 2 other people who want him dead. Ed catches Domino, but lets him go in return for his mushrooms. She takes them to the crew, who are suspicious, but they are revealed to be ordinary mushrooms. |
Episode 18: Speak Like a Child Faye receives a special delivery - a videotape. However, VCRs are rare, so Jet and Spike must look for one. They find one in a shop but Spike breaks it. They must find another one in an abandoned city on earth. After a long (and boring) journey, they find it, but it is the wrong model. Luckily they receive another package - a VCR! (Hooray!) They watch Faye's tape, and are shocked. It is a tape Faye made as a child to send to herself in the future... |
Episode 19: Wild Horses The crew encounter some pirates. After being beaten, Spike visits an old friend to repair his ship. Jet and Faye find the Pirates, but they use a virus to screw up their ships and escape again. Spike returns to the Bebop, where Jet tells him he has a plan. Once again, they find the pirates and engage them in battle. Jet plants a virus on their ships and they crash towards earth. Spike's ship runs out of fuel, but he is rescued by his friend in a repaired shuttle. The shuttle lands safely on earth...eventually. |
Episode 20: Pierrot Le Fou Spike encounters Mad Pierrot, a crazy assassin with strange powers, who has been killing ISSP members. He tries to kill Spike, but he survives. He sends Spike a message, telling him to meet him at a theme park. Spike goes to battle Pierrot, but he has set traps for him all over the place. Elsewhere, Ed finds out Pierrot was a man experimented on by the ISSP to give him telekenisis and enhance his assassination. It worked, but he became child-like and bloodthirsty. Spike is almost beaten, but manages to stab Pierrot. He cries like a child, and is crushed by a parade. |
Episode 21: Boogie-Woogie Feng Shui Jet receives a strange e-mail from Powell, an old friend and Feng-Shui master. He finds out Powell is dead, and meets his daughter after she saves him from gunmen. She tells him the message is a Feng-shui puzzle. They solve it and find-the sun stone, a piece of the moon that contains energy from the hyperspace explosion. They find out Powell is alive, and locate him in hyperspace. Jet tells his daughter, that Powell was a member of a crime syndicate. They are attacked by the syndicate, but they use the sun stone to create a portal to trap them. Powell contacts them, and reconciles with his daughter. He says goodbye, then the line is cut off... |
Episode 22: Cowboy Funk While pursuing Teddy Bomber (a serial bomber) Spike meets Andy, a stupid cowboy bounty hunter. He allows TB to escape and detonate his bombs. Later, Jet and Spike find TB again, but Andy arrives, and screws things up, allowing TB to escape. Spike heads to TB's next target - city hall. He sets a trap for Andy and Spike. They survive, but the bombs are still detonated. Faye catches TB while Andy & Spike duel on the roof. Spike wins and Andy quits the Cowboy business to become Musashi, the space samurai. |
Episode 23: Brain Scratch Faye joins Scratch, an orgainsation whose members abandon their physical forms to become cyberspace entities. Spike looks for their leader Dr Londes, but no one can locate him. Faye contacts the Bebop, and Spike goes after her. Jet & Ed find out that Dr Londes never existed and all his fake records are traced to a hospital bed. At the hospital they see a comatose boy hooked up to a brainwave machine. Londes was a creation of the boy's mind, given life by the computer. Spike rescues Faye, and Ed shuts down the boys brainwave machine. Londes ceases to exist. |
Episode 24: Hard Luck Woman Faye and Ed try to locate her old home on Earth. They find a day-care centre where Ed used to live. Ed finds a picture of her father. Later, they find Faye's old neighbourhood, where she meets a childhood friend. She tells her she was frozen because of an accident. They return to the Bebop. Faye regains her memory and realises she was frozen because of a space shuttle accident. Jet finds out about a new bounty - Ed's father. They search for him and he is reunited with Ed. However, the reunion is short as he soon leaves. Back at the Bebop, Ed leaves the crew to look for her father. Ein follows. |
Episode 25: The Real Folk Blues-Part 1 Jet and Spike are attacked by the red dragon clan. They escape with the help of Shin, Lin's younger brother. Faye encounters a blond woman being chased by armed men. She helps the woman, who tells her she is called Julia. After a short conversation, she tells Faye to tell Spike that she wants to meet him, then drives off. The Bebop is attacked by Red Dragon forces. Faye and Spike fight them off, then Spike heads towards Mars to meet Julia. Elsewhere, Vicious stages a coup and takes control of the Red Dragon Clan. Spike finds Julia waiting for him. As they meet, she takes out a gun... |
Episode 26: The Real Folk Blues-Part 2 Julia explains to Spike that Vicious sent her to kill him, but Spike convinces her to run away with him. They are attacked by the Red Dragon Syndicate's forces, and Julia dies in the conflict. Spike returns to the Bebop, where Jet and Faye try to convince him not to go after Vicious. Their efforts are in vain, and Spike heads to Vicious' headquarters.As he storms the tower, he is aided by Shin, (Lin's brother from eps 12&13) who dies in the battle. Spike confronts Vicious and they engage in their final conflict. Spike defeats Vicious, then stumbles and falls to the ground... End |
